Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house;
I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.
Lead me in the right path, O Lord,
or my enemies will conquer me.
Make your way plain for me to follow. Psalm 5:7-8
How many of us have found ourselves asking God to make His way plain to us? Only to feel like He is a million miles away working on something way more important. But look at the beginning of this passage. It reminds us of the reason we ask Him for His guidance in the first place, because of His unfailing love. He sent His Son to die in our place on a cruel cross to tear the veil and make the way for us to enter into the Holy of Holies. Why would He allow His Son to die such a cruel death to open a way only to not listen to and answer us when we enter in.
We may not hear His answer right away, but we can trust His heart and remember with awe all the times He showed up in ways that still keep us speechless. The truth is when we focus on Him and know that if He did it in the past, we can trust Him to lead us through again, that we find we begin to hear Him. Sometimes we get so distracted we hear, but don’t listen very well. See, when we get refocused on Him alone, we can recognize His familiar caring voice as He calls our names, just like what happened to Mary in the Garden. Once she stopped thinking He was taken and stopped searching, could she truly recognize His voice and see He was right there with her. My friend, He’s also right there with you, so stop searching, focus on hearing Him call your name, now receive your answers.
