Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot—
yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root.
And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:1-2
This week in our adventure to see the Christmas Story in the stars, we begin with the first Mazzaroth (Constellation) sign, Virgo. This sign represents God’s promise given in Genesis 3:15 to the serpent, “From now on you and the woman will be enemies, as will your offspring and hers. You will strike his heel, but He will crush your head” (TLB).
The picture of Virgo is a woman holding a branch in her right hand which is found in today’s passage and wheat in her left hand symbolizing seed. There are three Constellations within Virgo. Coma, meaning desired One, the desire of nations- the long awaited Messiah. Next is Bootes, which means the coming one and pictures a Shepherd. In his one hand is a rod to lead and guide and in the other a sickle, representing a harvest. And then there is Centaurus, who is half man and half horse, meaning two natures that reminds us that Jesus is fully God and fully man. God clothed in human flesh, He truly is Immanuel, God with us.
How awesome is it that before time as we know it even began God knew. So when He created the heavens He already had the plan to redeem us back again and destroy the enemy who is out to destroy us by the sacrifice of His Beloved Son, Jesus. And now we get to tell Redemptions story to lead others to a relationship with Him.
Take time today December 7, a day that will live in infimy in 1941 upon the bombing of Pearl Harbor to remember all the men and women who sacrificed their lives that day to keep us free
