We have a high priest who can feel it when we are weak and hurting. We have a high priest who has been tempted in every way, just as we are. But he did not sin. Hebrews 4:15 NIRV
There is a story told of a man who was sitting on a curb crying. Several people passed him by, but no one stopped to ask him what was wrong. Until Jesus walked up to him, sat down along side of him and asked him why he was crying? He said he was a pastor, and Jesus sat and cried with him.
Of course that story is not true, the but the message it conveys is, that Jesus feels what we feel. Way too often we think Jesus is just sitting in heaven listening to our prayers totally detached of any feeling. But todays verse tells us something different. He feels what we are feeling. It mentions He can feel when we are weak and hurting, so that would also mean He can feel whatever we are feeling, happy, sad, and yes, even angry.
Now how comforting is that, to know the One who sits at the right hand of the Father is feeling what we do, so He can ever intercede for us. This means in order for us to be truthful and honest with Jesus we need to be in a relationship with Him. That’s what accepting His sacrifice and forgiveness are for, so we can once again be reconciled back to Him again. The relationship rift that was created in the Garden of Eden, is now restored when we accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord.
Now when we pray, it’s a chance for us to get to know Him better and want to spend more time with Him and before we know it we are in a relationship instead of just meeting with Him when we want or need something. Take some time today and consider how your relationship is with Jesus, is it a casual one, or one that is intimate and special.
