Remember, your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Matthew 6:8 TLB
When we think of Africa we usually think of heat and desert. That’s what a volunteer of Operation Christmas Child thought when she went to Africa to hand our Christmas Boxes. But she was going to find out things were very different from what she thought both in this natural world and spiritually.
She was having a wonderful time visiting villages and handing out shoeboxes and watching the expressions of great expectation on the children’s faces as they opened their boxes. There were shouts of joy and laughter as they looked at their treasures and showed them to one another and family. Those boxes that were collected and prayed over were now making dreams come true.
But in this one village she would learn how important prayer over those boxes are and how awesome our God truly is. The visit at this particular village started out the same as the others they had visited. But this time as she watched the children open up their boxes to see their treasures, her heart began to sink when she saw a girl open her box and pull out a knitted hat, gloves and scarf. As she pulled them out tears began to fill her eyes. Immediately the volunteer rushed over to apologize for her getting a gift she couldn’t use. But as she approached, the girl looked up and said thank you, I prayed for these!
Shocked, the volunteer found out her family had a fishing boat and she helped her father on it. She said she always was cold and longed for some warm hat and gloves and now she had them. Who would have thought a young African girl would need a knitted hat, gloves and scarf? God did and He got them to her in a Shoebox for Christmas. That box was prayed over that it would reach the child who needed it and God got it to its destination. So don’t underestimate God He not only knows what we need, but He also makes a way for us to get it.
