Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 AMP
While listening to the updates of the events of Saturday evening at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania, what some would call a coincidence has emerged. Much like the attack on the World Trade Centers happened on 9-11. It has been reported that the first shots rang out at 6:11, reminding some of Ephesians 6:11 about the Armor of God. And to many Believers there are no coincidences only God-incidences and this seems to be one.
Saturday’s events are a perfect example of God’s protection. But it also is a reminder that we not only need protection from physical attacks, but from spiritual ones. And sometimes they come as a double attack together. Today’s verse reminds us that for those spiritual attacks the Lord has provided an armor for us. The Amplified Bible reveals the deeper meaning of this verse. The Hebrew word for precept is Mitzvah, which goes beyond the general command or mandate and means the God-given pathways through which we may enter into a deeper and eternal connection with God. It’s not just the act of following the command, but to the relationship between the heart of God and His children.
Look at how the Hebrew shows us that as we follow God’s precepts and His Word, we are putting on His Armor of protection against the enemy. This armor not only protects us from the physical attacks of the enemy, but the spiritual also. And the unseen weapons are often more destructive than the ones we can see simply because they are schemes, strategies and deceits that are always at work to take us down. May we remember the importance of the Armor, especially at this time when the world seems to be spinning out of control. As we put it on daily we will find that we are becoming more able to stand against his ploys and show others the amazing power and protection of our God.
