So, first and foremost, I urge God’s people to pray. They should make their requests, petitions, and thanksgivings on behalf of all humanity. Teach them to pray for kings (or anyone in high places for that matter) so that we can lead quiet, peaceful lives—reverent, godly, and holy— all of which is good and acceptable before the eyes of God our Savior who desires for everyone to be saved and know the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 The Voice
Over the past week we have seen the steps towards revival in this nation. It starts with God’s people admitting their sin, asking God to cleanse and forgive them, then stopping their sin and turning their hearts back to Him.
Of course all this can only happen with us bowing our knees and hearts in prayer. I don’t just mean a “Lord, bring us revival and change our hearts” prayer, I mean a pray like it matters prayer. A prayer that begins with, now that we’re in a right relationship with God, what does He want us to do? And ends with us waiting and listening for the answer while in His presence. He will direct us to the people and places we can have the most influence for Him and bring about the greatest change. It may be in your own neighborhood or community, or on a missions trip, prison ministry or small group; but wherever He leads, prayer is the primary work strategy for any individual or group that longs to see a move of God.
Our nation can see an about face in our morality when people change and become a “new creation”. We may not be able to reach everyone, but everyone can reach someone. But we need to begin to shine the Light that lives inside of us to help dispel the darkness that has spread throughout this great land.
