But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Last night as the sun was setting I looked out the window and took a double take. As the dark clouds from a storm were lifting up over the mountain I saw two separate hints of rainbow colors appearing. The longer I looked and the clouds rose higher, the brighter and larger the colors became. Soon it was obvious I was seeing the ends of a double rainbow!
I went out on the deck and watched in awe as the rainbow kept revealing itself. I couldn’t help myself I began to praise and worship God for this wondrous sight. I thought about how this beautiful sight was hidden behind some dark clouds and only when the clouds were lifting could they begin to be seen. And I realized I had to praise Him for the storms that came from those clouds to be able to produce the not single, but double rainbow. And about how faithful He is to His promises.
But just as slowly as it was revealed, it also was fading as the sun set. And then I remembered that even when we don’t see or feel God keeping His promises or Him working in our lives, He’s always there. He might be hidden by the clouds of disappointment, discouragement or doubt, but He’s not only “there” He’s within us, reassuring us that this too shall pass and the sun will shine again. My friend if you’re dealing with circumstances or a situation and it seems you can’t see any light, just remember that behind those clouds is a rainbow coming up out of the mountain and ushering in a new day walking with Jesus, Who will protect and guide you through whatever comes your way.
