So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God. Romans 7:4
Last week as we began our Waterfall Revival Challenge we focused on personal revival. Every revival throughout history began with a person being led by God to see the need to return to Him on a deeper level. The beginning of revival comes when Believers realize it’s all about Jesus and none of us. As stated in today’s verse we not only died to the law, but it no longer has power over us. I know that’s a hard concept for us, but the only reason that is true is because Jesus fulfilled the law. now it’s not about trying to keep God’s perfect law, and doing good. It’s now about Jesus Christ living in us so we can produce good deeds and show the heart of a loving heavenly Father.
May Believers and unbelievers are growing weary from the unsettledness all around us. There is confusion and everything seems to be spinning out of control. All the things the world tells us will solve our problems aren’t working as a matter of fact we’re seeing even more division and hate rising up. So what is the answer? It is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the power of His love, mercy and grace, especially towards those who “don’t deserve it”. Why is the Gospel so powerful? Because it doesn’t just change things, it transforms hearts and minds and turns us back to our first love, the One who loves us with an everlasting love. The love that brought Jesus down to be born of a virgin, live a life that shows us the heart of the Father, willingly going to the cross, dying to pay for all our sins, then rising in victory over everything that is trying to destroy us. And it all points to Jesus and no one else, that’s what we need to show others and in so doing we will see the power of Holy Spirit move in us, through us and among us that will start the fires of revival that we so desire.
