Our hero, come and rescue us!
O God of the breakthrough, for the glory of your name,
come and help us!
Forgive and restore us; heal us and cover us in your love. Psalm 79:9 TPT
This week we have been preparing our hearts and minds for the prayer initiative to consider our ways, repent and seek revival. This Saturday there will be two different prayer events, The Return- Day of Prayer and Repentance and The 2020 Prayer Walk both in Washington DC. Both will be live streamed, both will have people meeting together not only in the United States, but all over the world, for us to stand before our loving Almighty God to admit we need His forgiveness, and help to fulfill our purposes individually and nationally, so we can be restored to our God given state of excellence, love, unity and peace.
But what truly was the purpose of the Untied States? It can be found in a forgotten document theses days called the Virginian Charter on the founding of Jamestown. This is what it says “To the glory of His Divine Majesty in propagating Christian religion as such people who now live in darkness and miserable ignorance of the true knowledge and worship of God”. According to this document America was founded to share the Good News of the Gospel and shine His Light in the darkness, so that we could live in the benefits of His grace and favor as we follow His Word so His glory and power could be seen and experienced by all people. In other words, all the blessings we experience are from His hand so we will know that He is God and come into a relationship with Him.
But how the tide has turned, instead of being grateful and humbled that God has so blessed and loved us, we have become a nation of “do it yourselfers” and forgotten that without Him, we can do nothing. In light of what we have learned today, let’s pray that we would give the glory back to God, and live in it’s light and love to show others the greatness, the goodness and the amazing life that awaits all who will turn to Jesus and His salvation. In so doing we will once again have one foundation to build on for the good of all people.
