Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1
Yesterday we learned that the Wisemen not only learned, but studied the Scriptures to know the signs of the Prophecies. It was only through knowing and studying them would they know when they would be fulfilled. One of those prophecies was the birth of Jesus. Today we’re going to look at the second reasons the Wisemen were wise, they believed.
Think about it all of the scholars and magi that were taught the Jewish Scriptures were Gentiles. They knew about the God of Israel, but that did not mean they believed in, or worshiped Him. We have no idea how many of these men studied the Scriptures throughout the years before the Wisemen who traveled to see Jesus. But from the account we know they not only studied the Scriptures for information, but they truly believed what they learned.
They traveled years to find the long awaited Messiah. Only those who truly believe with their hearts would continue on searching until they would completely see the fulfilled prophecy with their own eyes and to finally worship Him. It makes me wonder, do we have such a passion to seek His face and His presence so we can know Him better? If the answer is no, we need to ask ourselves if we’re being wise and walking in wisdom. A new year is coming, perhaps we should determine to seek Jesus like the Wisemen did in 2022.
