And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 TPT
Yesterday we saw that when Solomon became King, he faced uncertainty, the unknown and confusion, much like what we face today. But he was a King like no other because he followed his father’s example of walking with the Lord. Today we will look at what he did first.
He worshiped with a thankful heart. by sacrificing a thousand burnt offerings on the altar to God. When we worship it should always be out of a heart of thanksgiving. We may not feel like being thankful or giving a sacrifice. But as we see in today’s scripture, it’s not about how we feel, but doing God’s will. When we begin to be grateful and worship God, especially when we don’t feel like it, God sees it as a sacrifice. Our praise and worship out of thanksgiving becomes a sweet smelling aroma that is pleasing and acceptable to God.
It shows our love for Him, thanking Him for all He has done for us and those who seek Him with all their hearts will not only find Him, but He will answer us. We will find the answers we need especially in a time of trouble. Most of us are not pleased with how our lives have changed, but one thing hasn’t, the character of God. He’s no longer looking for a burnt sacrifice, but a living one, our worship and praise with thanksgiving in all circumstances. When we do so, what we gain is so much greater than anything we will be losing.
