“Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is! Matthew 6:22-23
One day I woke up with my left eye completely pasted shut and swollen. I needed to use warm water to cleanse and open it. Even once it was open I could barely see, becuase of the swelling and my other eye wasn’t doing too well either. What I could see was nothing but a blur.
As I tried to use eye drops to clear up my problem I had to laught at myself, All I could think of was a skit Mike Meirs used to do on Saturday Night Live. He had a bad eye, and not matter what happened, he blamed it on that eye. We as Christians often do this in a spiritual way. Sometimes our spiritual vision becomes dim and distorted by cirumstances. When we dwell on the issues than the area afffecting us, we see them with distorted vision. All we see are the limitations and become self absorbed, instead of focusing on the One who can help us over come our problems and see them in the propoer light.
Just like eye drops cleaned out my eye, God is longing to cleanse our eyes when we get too much “of the world” in them. Next time your spiritural vision begins to get dim or is causing you discomfort, go to the Great Physician who has just the right eye drop to cleanse your sight.
