The Word gave life to everything that was created,
and his life brought light to everyone. John 1:4 NLT
It’s that time of year again when the daylight becomes less and less and cloudy rainy days make it seem like the sun never rose. This causes what now is called Seasonal Affective Disorder which can be helped with light therapy using a special light box for a few hours a day.
That’s light that works from the outside in, but there is a light that works from the inside out, it’s called the Word of God. Its content when read and meditated on works like the light boxes and helps change our hearts, minds and perspectives. No matter how dark of a day it might be outside, reading scripture can bring a smile to our face and put a spring in our step. Why? Because the light already is inside of us, and scriptures remind us of that light, and helps us release it. When we do, it not only illuminates the darkness, but reveals things to us we otherwise would not see. As we become filled with light, we can’t help but shine it on others and brighten their day also. So on the cloudiest of days, let’s get out there and lighten up the day!
