And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth. Acts 17:11
For far too long Christians believed what they were taught, just because they thought the person teaching was a Pastor, Elder, Deacon or some other title so what they were teaching was correct. A lot of erroneous teaching happened that way because many times it was taught from the teachers beliefs or perspective rather than in context. We never asked questions or even looked for ourselves, we just blindly followed.
This is why study of the Scriptures is so important. Not only does it get us to take an in depth look at the Scripture we are studying but that leads us to other Scriptures that help give us a better understanding and confirms the true message. It also may lead to other questions and we have to dig deeper to get their answers. We also usually learn more about God and who He truly is. If you have daily devotions, this is a great place to begin this practice. Go deeper into the Scriptures and learn the truth and apply it your life and lead others to Jesus.
