The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound, To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favor] Isaiah 61:1-2a
You may be wondering what happened to yesterday’s devotion. Well, I forgot to hit Publish! That’s correct you can research or excperience something and write about it, but it doesn’t get shared with others until you hit the “Publish” button. And this mistake caused me to write a new one for today and use yesterday’s later.
Today is Christmas Eve, one of the most anticipated days on the calendar. Tonight over 2000 years ago, Mary was in labor and Joseph was preparing for the birth of Immanuel. His birth was anticipated by so many waiting for the coming Messiah at some point in time. But for Mary, Joseph, Elisabeth and Zechariah they were waiting for the Messiah, Immanuel, Jeshua our Savior, God with us now. There was no wondering if He was the One Israel was waiting for, they knew it. So would the shepherds the angels told while out in the fields. And that was definitely great news.
But what if it only remained with those few people? What if it was never published? The news of the best gift that was ever given to the world needed to be told, that God had come to earth in the flesh to bring Salvation. A Light in the darkness that given perpetual hope. Don’t be like me, who had the information and wrote it down, but never published it. Publish the tidings of good news of the Gospel everywhere you go and let everyone know Salvation has come!
