I will thank you, Lord,
because you answered my prayer.
You have rescued me. Psalm 118:21
I know the last thing most people want to see during the Christmas season is rain instead of snow. But this year the sight of this rain is a welcome early Christmas gift from God. We needed the rain so much and although there were “showers of blessings” here and there they didn’t really help the drought significantly. But yesterday was different, the two inches of rain predicted was cause to praise the Lord! Singing Christmas Carols of praise to the creator of heaven and earth as He watered it and we told Him how truly thankful and grateful we are for His answers to our prayers.
But I wonder how many were still praying for much needed rain since it really hasn’t hindered or negatively affected us. And I thought about Christmas and Jesus. We need Him for so many reasons, but we generally don’t believe we do until we are in a bad place. Then all of a sudden, we want to pray and seek His help, even though we haven’t really talked with Him for a while. Maybe this year we could give Jesus a Christmas gift, one that is unique and something He always wanted; for us to converse with Him like Moses, Exodus 33:11 tells us the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. You may be saying we can’t see God’s face! Perhaps not in the physical, but being in His presence with nothing else on your heart and mind than to talk with Him, you will see Him in through the Spirit.
How do you feel when someone you love or care about gives you their undivided attention? When your believe that they see you as the only person in the world. Your heart begins to soar, you see yourself as loved, valued and adored because you were now they’re all in all! Now imagine that’s how God feels when you place Him before anything else in this world, including the way we celebrate His birthday. Make plans now, from Christmas Day on to give Him the gift of your undivided attention often, so He can know the joy of watching His child grow more and more like Him.
