How clearly the sky reveals God’s glory!
How plainly it shows what he has done! Psalm 19:1 GNT
Last night as I took the dogs out for the last time, I looked up in the sky and saw the glorious sight of twinkling stars and a radiant moon that lit up the night sky and the peaking of the Geminids Meteor Shower. The night was crisp, cold and clear not only in sight, but also in hearing. When it’s cold and clear I can hear the traffic on I- 78 like it was in my back yard. Yet there is also a stillness and quiet.
It reminds me of how when our hearts and minds are clear of the noise of the world around us and the constant barrage of information we can see and hear from the Lord much better. The imaginations He gave us can once again see all creation around us with eyes of wonder and awe. As we are considering all He has created and done, there is a calm and peace that settles our minds and hearts so we can hear our Abba gently speaking to us. Sometimes He doesn’t even have to speak, but just feel His overwhelming presence that can bring us to our knees in worship, standing to our feet with hands lifted in praise. Free to let the tears flow for no other reason than to experience that emotional combination of joy and relief that you’re loved and understood.
During this busy and bustling holiday season, I encourage you to take some time to enjoy the presence of the One Christmas is truly about. Shut out all the distractions and focus on Him alone, the Light that shines in any darkness, the Peace that passes all understanding and the joy that comes from deep inside a transformed heart. Now that’s what Christmas is truly about.
Oh, and you can take time to enjoy the Geminids Meteor Shower between now and December 22.
