The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it. John 1:5
The other day I heard a statement that has stuck with me, “The light shines through the cracks”. I thought about the book by Patsy Clairmont, God Uses Cracked Pots where she shares shares humorously how God used her flaws, mistakes, struggles and fears to shine His light through the cracks and broken places in her life. And how He can do the same with us.
But the more I thought about it, those cracks in our lives shine light both ways. And those cracks that we want so want to hide are not only important, but useful. It’s through our cracks that the Light of the World, Jesus, shines into our lives and brings salvation, hope and healing.
But once that light is in us and showing us the places we need to be transformed, healed and restored, we then need to share our light with others. Just like Jesus gave us His Light, now we need to share that light with others to bring them hope, love and healing. Sometimes we may feel, we’re too broken to share our light, but remember the more we are broken, the more light Jesus can shine in us. The more that we are transformed and healed and we can share with others how awesome Jesus is and that He wants to shine His Light into their lives and transform them also. I believe we should sing more often This Little Light of Mine and instead of being ashamed of our cracks, know it’s through them our light shines the brightest.
