No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.” John 10:18 NLT
When asked who sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver? For those who know scripture answer Judas. But I heard something today that truly made me stop and consider that pat answer. Someone asked, did you ever consider that Judas sold his soul not Jesus. And considering it I did.
Yes, Judas did get paid 30 pieces of silver for betraying Jesus, but Scripture reminds us that Jesus said He willingly was laying down His life and He had the authority to do so. Taking that into consideration, then who was more affected by the sale of the information about Jesus’ whereabouts? Judas, it cost him everything including his life and eternity in hell. So actually Judas sold himself.
No matter what people said or did to Jesus, it didn’t change who He was or His mission and purpose on earth. Since 1 John 4:17 tells us that as He is, so are we in this world, then shouldn’t we not let what people say and do to us affect us? However, we can only do this through His Holy Spirit working in us, because Jesus’ responses were truly supernatural. Jesus lived with a calling from His Father and we have a calling and purpose on our lives also, let’s determine to live like Jesus and watch the greatest miracle still happening on earth today, people receiving His Salvation.
