Later, Jesus talked to the people again, saying, “I am the light of the world. The person who follows me will never live in darkness but will have the light that gives life.” John 8:12
For the most part Hanukkah is about oil and light. Jesus said He is the Light of the world, and His Holy Spirit in us is His oil that keeps His light burning. As we celebrate New Years Eve today, let us remember that we are the lamps (the containers) of the oil and light that can never be extinguished by the darkness.
But it’s not enough to remember that Jesus said we carry the light now, but we shouldn’t hide or hinder it from shinning. Oh how this dark world needs that Light we carry now and we need to let them shine brightly. Take time today as we say good bye to this year and usher in a new year of hope let us ask the Lord to reveal to you what may be dimming your light and hindering others from being able to see Jesus and receive His gift of salvation. The more we share His light, the darkness will have to flee and 2025 may be a year of awakening and revival.
