And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God. 1 Peter 2:5
I heard someone say we are all like stones, imperfect, different sizes and shapes and alone we don’t accomplish much. But when we are fitted together we can build amazing things and with the correct mortar, strong fortresses that can endure time. However they weren’t talking about buildings or “spiritual” things, they were talking about community. And immediately I thought about today’s verse.
Part of being built into a spiritual temple is to be used of God to help build His kingdom here on earth. Now more than ever we as the church need to be out in our communities not only telling people about Jesus and His love grace and salvation, but to show them who Jesus truly is. Becoming a living stone actually means it has become our way of life and who we are through Jesus. As we do that we will help build His kingdom here and lives and hearts will be transformed by His resurrection power as we prepare for the Rapture. In so doing we will see Scripture be fulfilled that God’s will, that none would perish, but all come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
