Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?” When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” John 21:20-22
Today we’re finishing our breakfast with Jesus and His disciples. And what a beakfast it was, packed full of life lessons! Today’s Scripture bookends the past three and a half years walking with Jesus. Jesus ended His talk with Peter, saying the same thing He did when He first met the fishermen. Follow Me!
Two simple words that changes lives of people today, just like they did back then. When we choose to follow Jesus, we begin a life with unlimited possibilities and supernatural empowerment to overcome the enemy who wants to steal, kill and destroy all the amazing things Jesus died to provide for us. In following Him we place our trust Him that He will lead and guide us in the ways that are best for us, even if He leads us in ways that may be difficult. Knowing that those difficulties help build our character to become more like Him. His disciples and those who followed them were willing to place their complete trust in Him and live the abundant life He died and rose again to give them; no matter where it led. May we continue to follow Him through the example of those who went before us and showed us following Jesus is the greatest thing we can ever do.
