I tell you the truth, whoever believes in me will do the same things that I do. Those who believe will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12
We have been studying the authority we’ve been given by God; when He said in Genesis 1:26 to give man dominion over all the animals and the earth. The word dominion in Hebrew is radah which means to reign and rule over, to prevail against. But Satan, talked Adam And Eve into giving that dominion to him when they ate the fruit of the Tree of Good and Evil.
Then Jesus came to live among us as a man, lived, died and rose again to give us our dominion back. That’s why today’s verse reminds us that we are able to do the same things Jesus did. To enable that power, we need to believe not only in Him, but that the same Spirit that lives in Him, now lives in us when we accept Him as Savior and Lord. I know, it’s one of those mind blowing Truths that we truly need to embrace in order to exercise our authority.
Starting Friday, I began to exercise that authority in a way I never have before. The threat of another large and potentially destructive snow storm was being forecast. So, because Jesus spoke to the storm, then I should be able to also. And I began to declare and decree that I had the authority of Jesus and as He spoke to the weather, then I could speak to this impending storm and tell it to stop. Then Holy Spirit nudged me to tell it to be calm, to blow out to sea and dissipate. So I did. Then they named it, Hernanado, which means bold traveler. That’s even better, because now I can declare it to be bold and travel out to sea and become calm. As I spoke to the storm, it kept changing and the accumulation numbers kept dropping. Then the end of the storm was showing to be much shorter than believed.
We as Believers really can have dominion over things of this world. I know we still got snow and wind, but I never said it shouldn’t snow, I told it to calm, blow out to sea and then go away. Now I know I wasn’t the only one speaking to this storm, but the truth is any Believer alone can declare and decree over something and expect results. No pride can be involved, because it isn’t our power, it’s His power In us. I encourage you to try speaking and decreeing to whatever hindrance or obstacle is in your way and believe that you will see them move, and they will. Maybe not right away, or in the way we think, but God’s way is so much better than ours and it’s worth the wait.
