So faith comes from hearing the Good News, and people hear the Good News when someone tells them about Christ. Romans 10:17
All you have to do is turn on the radio, tv, or just your cell phone and you hear how bad things are and that everything is going to hell in a handbasket. Everything keeps getting worse and there’s no hope for anything else to get better, we’re doomed! Lies and deception is at an all time high. Nowhere is safe, things are out of control. You hear those things and they get planted in your mind and the more you hear them the more you believe them and soon it’s all you’re focusing on.
But today’s verse gives us the answer to the doom and gloom, increased faith. And how does our faith in God increase? Through hearing the Good News! We can’t avoid hearing the bad news, but we can limit how much we hear it and when we do. And we can combat it by listening to and reading the Word out loud to ourselves. The more we hear about Jesus and His love, grace and truth the more we will believe it. As we are encouraged and strengthened by them, the more we will want to share it with others who need to hear it too.
When others begin to see the goodness of God and the peace and stability that comes through a relationship with Him, they too will accept Him as their Lord and Savior. Being careful what we hear isn’t just a blessing to us but also to others and may just transform their lives now and for all eternity.
