From here on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with the right heart. For God is a Spirit, and he longs to have sincere worshipers who worship and adore him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24 TPT
This week I was reminded of a quote from Charles Spurgeon in the book “Classic Sermons on the Names of God” by Warren Wiersbe. Spurgeon warned us about cold formalism he saw: “In some of our churches everybody seems to be a little colder than everybody else. The members are holy icicles. A general frost has paralyzed everybody; and though some are colder than others, yet all are below zero. There are no flowing rills of refreshment, but everything is bound hard and fast with the frost of indifference. Oh, that the Lord would send forth His wind and melt the glaciers! Oh, that the Spirit of God would chase winter out of every heart and every church! No human power can keep a church from the frostbite which numbs and kills. Except the Lord be there, growth, life, warmth–are all impossible. Ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence and give Him no rest, but cry day and night to Him, `O Lord, abide with us….’
I believe the events and occurrences of this past year are beginning to thaw the indifference in the body of Believers. We’re finding that our nation nor it’s people can find the answers we need through conventional means, political parties, or knowledge. Only through the Lord will we see true and lasting change because with Him it’s repentance leading to transformation of hearts and minds.
Everything is dependent upon Him, everything! Let’s declare His Word and His Ways. In so doing, we’re firing up Holy Spirit fire in each one of us the “frozen chosen” and “the First Church of the Frigidaire” are beginning to wake up from their frosty slumber and hearing Jesus calling us to follow Him and lead the world to His cross and find His salvation. He truly is the Resurrection and the Life to those who are ready to rise to His voice and come back to life in abundance!
