Better a day in Your courts
than a thousand anywhere else.
I would rather be at the door of the house of my God
than to live in the tents of wicked people. Psalm 84:10
Most Christians are familiar with the grain and the wine mentioned in Scripture as Communion. But several times they are mentioned along with oil. Oil is often associated with consecration, divine enablement and Holy Spirit. When accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we receive Holy Spirit that enables us to walk out God’s purposes in our lives. Although the world tells us that divine enablement is seen in big showy displays, God tells us that His enablement is often seen in the small, even insignificant ways.
Consider this, a tent revival preacher called Mordecai Hamm was having a revival meeting in 19334 in Charlotte North Carolina. Two fourteen year old boys were walking past the tent and heard the bold preaching of the amazing love of God as our Father, so they decided to go check it out. But as they reached the tent, they saw that there were no seats, so they just kept walking by. That’s when an usher heard them talking and ran after them, telling them he could find them seats that would be together. He led them to a row where he asked people to move down and had them seated. And by the end of the sermon both boys walked up to the altar and accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord.
Those two boys changed the world and added tens of millions of people to the Kingdom of God. Their names were Billy Graham and Grady Wilson. While Billy Graham preached the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Grady Wilson was the man in the background that made all the crusades happen. And although what they did for Christ impacted the world like never before for the cause of Christ, it wasn’t them or Mordecai Hamm
The amazing thing is those three people weren’t the catalyst for such a great many people added to the Kingdom. It actually was because of the unnamed usher, who ran after those boys and made a way for them to be able to hear the life changing message of the Gospel. If you ever think that you aren’t being used of God because you aren’t doing anything great for Him, just think about this usher and how is actions and service to the Lord, changed the lives of millions of people forever. Don’t ever underestimate how the little things in this life can leave an impact that can never be removed from this world or the next.
