Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. Matthew 14:24
Yesterday I heard Andrew Womack say, ” when the disciples were on the sea in the storm, you know the circumstances in the boat weren’t much better than the ones outside of it.” I actually stopped walking, turned towards the TV and said “you know that is true!”
Have you ever thought about that? The boat was probably taking on water and struggling to push the water out quicker than it was coming in, but to no avail. Isn’t that just like us? We’re in trouble or facing a crisis and we’re doing everything we know how to keep from sinking and drowning. We’re exhausted and yet we keep on bailing to no avail. When Jesus is walking in the storm with us, but we don’t invite Him in nor ask if we can come to Him.
Yes Peter took a chance stepping out of the boat, but either way, they were going down. So he made a decision to either keep trying to keep the boat afloat, or go to the One who he had seen turn around every situation He walked into or was called into by someone. So let’s take a very real lesson from Peter, step our of our chaos and call Him into our situation, and just like on the sea, He will not only step with us into the problem, but calm the storm and get us to where we are going.
