When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. John 21:9
Can you imagine Jesus making you breakfast on a beautiful seashore? What a wonderful way to begin the day, especially after you just have had the second biggest catch of your life. And both of them were a result of thier relationship with Jesus. It seemed wherever Jesus was there was every kind of provison and blessing in abundance. He was always feeding them both physically and spiritually.
Notice once again, Jesus was showing them a picture of Communion, a time of fellowship and remembering all that Jesus promised them when He would rise again in three days after His death. Jesus was showing His disciples the importance of staying in fellowship with Him and one another, just by doing everyday things like sharing a meal.
I wonder how much better and deeper our relationship with Him would be if we’d see Him as our friend. Someone who wants to be a part of our everyday lives, not just at times of crisis, or special times in our lives. What if we would remind ourselves of His continual presence, not just times in prayer or partaking Communion. Today’s passage reminds us, Jesus wants us to not only be reminded of His presence, but to invite Him to be a part of our lives 24/7 and in so doing, we will experience Communion in a whole new way.
