Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. Hebrews 13:15
The Scriptures are full of verses that tell us to praise the Lord for all He has done, just because of who He is, for His love and grace and mercy to us, etc. Those are easy times to lift our voices and hands towards Him with grateful hearts. But what about when you don’t feel like praising the Lord. There are many reasons, too many to count. But not only is that the time we don’t feel like praising Him, but it’s the time we need to praise Him the most.
I believe this verse is telling us to do just that, and that’s why it’s called a sacrifice of praise. You put aside you’re unforgiveness, jealousy, hatred, bitterness, etc. and push it aside, so you can praise Him during a dark time. Notice it says that kind of praise only comes through Jesus. As we praise and worship Him, it begins to change our focus off of us and the problem and on to Jesus our problem solver. It is a praise that I believe touches God’s heart in a special way, because it is showing Him truly we have placed Him above ourselves and any other thing that tries to distract us from Him. And He also sees His Son as He enables us to do so.
So the next time you’re having a bad day, or the bottom has fallen out of your life, take time to give to God a sacrifice of praise. You may be surprised at what it produces and you will praise Him even more!
