A light that thrives in the depths of darkness,
blazes through murky bottoms.
It cannot and will not be quenched. John 1:9
Last night as I was driving into church I was admiring the Super Moon and how it was lighting up the clouds. Then some dark clouds began to move in and partially cover it. In a short period of time the Super Moon was covered. But somehow, the sky and clouds around it were still illuminated. And eventually the sky was completely covered with black clouds and although not as bright, you could still see a hazy glow radiating.
Then I began to think, the moon has no light of its own, its brightness is only through it reflecting the sun’s light. Just like a Believer, the light we have is from Holy Spirit living inside of us reflecting the Light of Jesus through us to this dark world. And just like the cloud covered moon, the darkness can never put it out! No matter how dark the things of this world can get, the Light inside of us is always reflecting the Light of Christ. And that Light is brighter and greater than the darkness.
But here’s the thing. We ourselves can cover that light within us, like the VBS song This Little Light of Mine says hide it under a bush, Oh no! I’m going to let it shine! Let’s not be that hazy circle, it’s getting pretty dark out there and it’s a wonderful opportunity to shine and reflect the Light of Jesus into the darkness and lead others to Him so they can be a light too.
