So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:15-20
There is a saying that goes; Live your life so you can sell your pet parrot to a neighbor. When I heard this I thought of today’s verse, that not only tells us to be careful how we live, but even tells us how to achieve it. The first thing is to be filled with Holy Spirit and through Him we can sing psalms, spiritual songs that comes from our hearts. And to be thankful for everything.
It seems so simple doesn’t it, yet to put it into practice becomes more difficult, especially if you’re not filled with the Spirit. Making music in your heart and being thankful are products of being in a relationship with Jesus. When you remember all He accomplished for you on the cross and how much He loves you, how can you help but want to sing about Him. And when you do, you will begin to see yourself change and becoming more like Him spreading hope, joy, healing and peace wherever you go.
