So then, from this point on we won’t recognize people by human standards. Even though we used to know Christ by human standards, that isn’t how we know him now. So then, if anyone is in Christ, that person is part of the new creation. The old things have gone away, and look, new things have arrived! 2 Corinthians 5:16-17
The other night I was with a dear friend and we were talking about reading the Bible and how sometimes it just seems to be words on a page. Then other times the words jump of the page and impact us so greatly. We talked about how when we pray before we begin to read Scripture and ask Holy Spirit to help us understand it, or reveal the hidden things, He does.
It was then she turned to me and her face was glowing and her eyes were dancing, as she told me that happened to her. She went on to say that as she read today’s verses she saw herself as being a whole new person, like she was starting life all over again. She wasn’t restored or renewed, everything about her was brand new! The way she said it reminded me how true that was and that all the past things that kept me in bondage are behind me. But how many times do we forget that, and bring our baggage along with us into our future.
So tomorrow morning when you wake up tell the Lord good morning, then remember that you are a new creation. And because God’s mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23) you can start the day with a clean slate. How awesome and loving is our Abba Father?
