So be careful how you act; these are difficult days. Don’t be fools; be wise: make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good. Ephesians 5:15-16
Lately the news has been more and more sad and depressing. But for the Believer, it’s an opportunity bring some hope and light into a dark and sad time. 1 John 4:17 reminds us that as Jesus is so are we in this world. And one thing Jesus has is a heart of compassion and therefore, we should also. Seeing the devasting flood in Napal and Chinese boarder is like watching a movie, you can’t believe it’s real. But it is, along with the Grand Canyon and several other places on earth where nature is going wild.
Jesus calls us to help those who are in need many times and although most people only see helping being with material needs. But the hope and light we can bring is helping them see how much they need Jesus. To share how Jesus warned us thousands of years ago these things were going to happen. Not to punish the world, but to wake others up that what He said was going to happen, is happening. That He loves us so much He’s giving everyone as much time as possible to enter into a relationship with Him for all eternity and to escape what is yet to come.
We many think everyone should know this but if they don’t read the Bible how would they? Sharing and showing them the truth of the Word. When someone asks us what we think about what’s going on we can tell them what Jesus said. Even if they never ask, we can use it as a conversation starter and tell them what He said. Let’s make the most of the time we are on this earth and bring hope into a hopeless situation. And by the way, doing this also encourages ourselves.
