Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live. 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
We are studying the prayers of Paul, which are powerful and effective and make all of us want to up our prayer life. Paul’s prayers were developed in his relationship with Jesus, who upon meeting in a vision on the road to Damascus was changed forever. Some say besides Jesus he was the most influential person of his time, and they are probably correct. He was completely undone by his encounter with Jesus and the change was so drastic and 180 degrees. people didn’t believe him. Through his change, he changed the relationship between Jews and Gentiles. He changed the way people lived. He impacted every person he came in contact with. And ultimately he influenced and changed history in so many ways.
But how did he accomplish all this and so much more? He had a deep and vibrant relationship with his Lord and Savior, and was filled and led by Holy Spirit working inside of him. He became an unstoppable force simply because he was always in contact with Jesus through prayer. He made prayer practical, because he knew without it, everything he was trying to accomplish would be an effort and hindered. It would be like a Salmon swimming up stream to spawn, necessary, but tiring and difficult. Prayer on the other hand, gives us the ability to live a powerful and effective life that impacts others for Jesus Christ. So in this complicated time we live in, lets do something practical, PRAY and spend time with God and see the supernatural happen.
