How deeply intimate and far-reaching is his love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding—this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God! Ephesians 3:19
What the world needs now, is love, sweet love, it’s the only thing that there’s just to little of . . . so the song goes. We’ve all been there, when we feel unloved, or that there is so little love being shown to one another. But this verse reminds us that the love of God is beyond anything our human minds can totally understand or experience. Because there is no feeling so secure and accepted as when you know you are loved.
The reason it’s far beyond our understanding is because it reaches everyone, those who have received Him and those who haven’t. Wait, what!? That’s correct, God loves you even if you don’t love Him back. He will continue to love you and will wait for you to accept the sacrifice and forgiveness of His Son Jesus and have your relationship with Him reconciled or you die without knowing a relationship with Him. He will wait that long. If you don’t believe that, just think about the one thief who was crucified with Him. His heart was softened to Jesus and asked Him to remember him when Jesus would come into His kingdom, Jesus’ answer; truly today you will be with Me in Paradise. No having to work for forgiveness, no pleading and having to “clean himself up”. No, he saw the heart of Jesus when He cried out, Father, forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing! This was said not out of a good place, but one of pain, agony and torment from those crucifying Him. How do you understand that kind of love? The other thief chose to turn his heart away from Jesus and did not know the joy of entering into everlasting life in heaven.
For those who have received His forgiveness and entered into a relationship with Him, we can receive His love more freely and deeply, until we are running over with His love to share with others. 1 John 4:19 reminds us, that we can love, because He first loved us! So blood bought children of the Most High God, let’s start acting like our Father, so there will be no shortage of love in our world.
