Don’t listen to Hezekiah, for he is misleading you when he says, “The Lord will rescue us.” Have any of the gods of the nations actually rescued his land from the power of the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah? Indeed, did any gods rescue Samaria from my power? Who among all the gods of the lands has rescued their lands from my power? So how can the Lord rescue Jerusalem from my power?’”
When King Hezekiah’s servants came to Isaiah, Isaiah said to them, “Tell your master this: ‘This is what the Lord has said: “Don’t be afraid because of the things you have heard, because the Assyrian king’s officers have insulted Me. 2Kings 18:32-32; 19:6 NET
Our society is experiencing audio overload. We hear way to many voices in a days time, and worst of all most of them are negative. These voices generate spirits of dread, fear, frustration and general hopelessness. If only hearing them were the issue, the real damage comes when they begin to get inside of us. These spirits get hidden in discouragement, depression, anxiety, worry and stress to name a few. These in turn cause physical and mental health issues.
When we hurt enough, we seek help from the medical field, which in turn treat our symptoms with medication, because we have been deceived by the root cause. Now I am not saying that we don’t ever have to go to the doctor or get medical help, because sometimes we do. But that when we do, we need to seek treatment for the root issue, not the symptom. And usually if the root cause is treated, when we do need medication, it is only temporary basis to lessen the symptoms while the true cause is being dealt with.
Deception is so very prevelant today in almost every area of our lives and much of it comes from the spirit of fear. When we begin to have feelings of fear, we need to remember what God told Isaiah to tell the people of Israel, “Don’t be afraid of what you hear!” God did not give you a spirit of fear, but rather one of love and a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7). My friend, God loves you more than you will ever know this side of heaven. He doesn’t want you to live in fear and dread because it is destructive in so many ways. That is why He has made available His Holy Spirit to all who would enter into a relationship with Jesus; who empowers us to see through the deception, no matter what we see, hear or feel. Jesus meant every word when He said He would never leave us or forsake us when we trust in Him.
If you are reading this and want to have that loving relationship with Jesus, then say, Jesus I believe that You are the Son of the Living God. That you lived on earth as a man, died on the cross for my sins and rose again to empower me with Your Holy Spirit to live a victorious life in You. Thank you for loving me so much. If you have said that prayer, then you are now part of the family of God. Please contact us, we would like to give you a gift, welcome you and have you join us on your new life’s journey.
