Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Colossians 4:2
On September 26, 30 days from today, Believers will converge on Washington DC and across the world will be streaming the prayer events presented by Jonathan Cahn (The Return) and Franklin Graham. Between now and then they are asking Believers everywhere to embrace 2 Chronicles 7:14 and PRAY!
Contrary to popular belief, these prayer initiatives are not primarily for the election, but rather for hearts and minds to be transformed and renewed by God. What we see happening in our nation, is something so much more dark and insidious than what we see on the surface. The intensity of hate, anger, destruction, lying and deception are way beyond human emotion and are of supernatural power of the enemy. But we who are in a relationship with Jesus, don’t need to be fearful, but rather engage in the battle that the Lord is fighting.
How do we engage? Through praying the Lord’s will and for His way. How do we do that? By praying the Scriptures. What do you see happening? Go to the Bible through a concordance or online and find verses that tell you what the Lord wants in the situation you are praying for, and say it as a prayer. So often we are concerned we aren’t praying for the correct thing, but when we pray God’s Word, we know it is correct.
If you’re wondering what I mean, let me give you an example. So many have told me they don’t know who to believe anymore. So Colossians 2:8 would be a good verse Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. The prayer of this verse might be; Father, I want to thank you for protecting my mind and heart against those who would try to deceive me with principles created by thinking that promotes self and pride. For Holy Spirit who nudges, convicts and helps me test what I hear and see by comparing them to You and Your Word. As I keep my mind on You and Your ways, I walk in wisdom, peace and the truth. Try it for yourself, the more you do it, the better and easier it will get.
